Passports

Greg and I picked up the applications to get our passports a few weeks ago. Turns out we need certified copies of our birth certificates which we don't have. Greg hunted around online and found out he can order his online...it will cost about $10 bucks. Mine will be $18. I have this Friday off, so I'm just going to go down and do it in person.

This birth certificate thing kind of baffles me.

I have a photo copy of mine some where and I know for a fact it's typed....cuz, remember, I was born in the dark ages. So how in the world are they going to find my information? I'm assuming it's in a computer....but maybe it's just a piece of paper rotting in a box someplace? Perhaps they have entered all the births that occurred before computers were around into a computer? Or maybe they have boxes upon boxes of birth certificates in some warehouse. In either case, imagine having the job of sifting through the boxes looking for this single piece of paper....OR....the person who had to enter all the births for the year 1967 in San Diego. How many thousands of kids were born here in 1967?! That poor person. Let's hope they were very accurate....and didn't skip mine.

How long it will take to get this thing once I order it? Seems like it should take forever....

I'll update when we get them.
